Independent from our intensive course in Arabic in the form of the ‘Certificate in Islamic Studies and Arabic’, we also offer the study of Classical Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic at various levels.
Arabic Level 1A & 1B – STUDY AT YOUR OWN PACE!
Format: Short pre-recorded lessons, combined with selected live lessons, with handouts, exercises, quizzes and an examination [at a centre near you] at the end.
Lesson Count: 35 lessons per level covering Arabic Grammar and Morphology.
Approximate duration based on different time commitments:
1 Year ~ Half an hour for lessons and an additional hour for review and homework per week to complete both levels
6 months ~ 1 hour for lessons and an additional 2 hours for review and homework per week to complete both levels
Application Fee: R150
Cost: R1500 per level
De-Registration: Students will forfeit 25% if they de-register within a month of enrolment and 100% thereafter.

Pre-Requisite:
- The applicant must be able to recite the Holy Qur’an in its original text of Arabic correctly without understanding. This course will not cover reading of the Arabic script. No prior knowledge of Arabic is required.

- Feminine Nouns
- Number of Nouns: Dual Nouns, Sound Masculine & Feminine Plurals

- Iḍāfah Constructions
- Simple Verbal Sentences
- Pronouns: Personal, Relative, Interrogative & Demonstrative
[A] Morphology [Conjugation of Verbs]
- Overview of the Science, Root System & Locating Words in the Dictionary
- Triliteral, Regular Verbs, Form One:
- Perfect & Imperfect Tenses: Active & Passive
- The Six Types
- The States of Nasb & Jazm
[B] Grammar: An introduction to I`rab [Desinential Inflection], nouns in the states of Raf`[nominative], Nasb [accusative] and Khafd [Genetive] and regular and irregular signs
[B] Morphology: Mazid Fih [Derived Forms] & Irregular Verbs
Arabic Level 2A
Duration: One Semester [Approx. 15 Weeks]
Format: Four half hour live classes per week [*all live lessons are recorded and posted to the student portal] with handouts, exercises, quizzes and an examination [at a centre near you] at the end
Weekly Time Commitment: Two hours to participate in live lessons or watch recordings and another hour for review and homework.
Cost: R1500 for the entire semester which is due within the first four months of the semester in equal installments [R375 per month] or as a lump sum after approval/ acceptance of one’s application.

Pre-Requisite: The applicant must have completed our Arabic 1B course or it’s equivalent [RPL required].
Outline:
[A] Literature: An intense study of various classical texts to consolidate and apply previous knowledge of grammar and morphology.
[B] Functional Arabic: A themes based approach to learning the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing Modern Standard Arabic
